Mules are passive mobs which can be bred by crossing a horse and a donkey. They are slightly smaller than horses and share traits like long ears with the donkeys. Mules do not naturally spawn in Minecraft, you have to deliberately cross a horse and donkey to get one.

You’ll have to first locate an adult horse and a donkey.

Horses naturally spawn in the Plains, Sunflower Plains, Savanna, Savanna Plateau, Windswept Savanna and Villages. You’ll also find donkeys in all these biomes with the addition of meadows.

Once you have located one of each, tame them by trying to mount them until you see a hearts animation. Once you’ve tamed them, you can feed them either a golden apple or golden carrots. While golden apples are hard to find, you can craft a golden carrot by picking some from a village and combining it with 8 x golden nuggets on a crafting table.
